Shipping Routes

The artist Allan Sekula, an important inspirer of our museum concept, called the sea the “forgotten space” of the modern age. Indeed, the sea does not play a major role in the debates on globalization. Global ties would be unthinkable without the sailing-, slavery-, steam- and container ships that have bound the continents for centuries. This moved us to consider what what exactly happens on these ship passages: What’s life like in “forgotten space”?
