Tropical Modernity

Contrary to the great narratives of the West, modernity is a global co-production, even where this co-production was not voluntary. While economic, political and aesthetic forms developed as part of Western modernization have been exported to almost every corner of the world, the respective local environments have transformed them into something unique. Now these recast variations are affecting power centers as well.
